This Scene Is *So* Dead
Just got back from the We Are Scientists / Art Brut show. Pretty crazy. I half assed kept a set list but I am too lazy to decipher my notes. In any case, the fun of the show was all about the banter. Eddie Argos of Art Brut is freaking insane. I think my favorite part of his banter was when he did some bit about Jay Z. Something about if Jay Z was there he would tell Eddie that he has 99 problems and none of them was a woman. (This was in the middle of “Emily Kane”. ) And then he went off about not thinking about your exes and that you’re better off without them. Okay. Then there was his ridiculous Top of the Pops thing. But I guess in a really “get over yourself and just go with the flow” sense, it was kinda fun.
We Are Scientists picked up right where Eddie left off. I have always enjoyed the banter between Keith and Chris and they were in fine form tonight. Chris was drinking a Heineken and at some point Keith told this story about how Chris spit some all over him at a party once. And then Chris said that Keith should thank him since a bunch of girls licked it off him. Uh yeah. Keith did a bunch of stuff that were plays on things that Eddie did...his variation of the Jay Z thing was much funnier. And he did the Top of the Pops thing too.
Banter notwithstanding, they played a decent show. I loved WAS covering Art Brut’s “Bang Bang Rock and Roll”. (They had it for sale, I’ll post it on Monday)
The Spintos came out to do a dance routine to it (think OK Go). And then for the finale, Eddie came out and sang “The Great Escape” with Keith. Nicely done.
I am going to try to get my notes together and post the set list later. I’ve got to run for now.
Update: set list in the extended entry
